How to Choose a Timber Bar Stool

timber bar stoolFinding the perfect timber bar stool for your venue is certainly challenging. There are so many different considerations to take into account when finding your perfect bar stool. At Café Solutions, we’ve mastered the art of finding the perfect stool and are pleased to share this information with you.

Below are hints and tips to help you find timber bar stools that will give you many years of service.

Choosing the height

Bar stools come in a range of heights so it’s important to understand what height is best for your needs. Be aware, when looking for a timber bar stool, or any other stool for that matter, that they are measured from the stool seat to the floor and not from the backrest.

There are 3 heights of bar stools to choose from on our site – kitchen counter bar height, commercial bar height, and low stools.

Kitchen counter bar stool height – Most counters are 95 cm high which means that your counter stool needs to be 66cm tall. This gives your customers enough room to cross their legs beneath the bench.

Commercial bar stool height – Bar heights in cafes, bars, pubs, restaurants and hotels etc. is generally 105cm. We recommend, therefore, that you choose a 76cm stool.

Our low stools are 46cm in height and work with standard café tables.

Choosing the right style

If you’re seeking a timber bar stool then there are several different styles to choose from.

Classic – Our cross back bentwood bar stool in natural timber boasts a classic style that is instantly recognisable. It also uses reclaimed timber, so each stool that you purchase will be unique.

Industrial – Many venues have opted for industrial styling in recent years and we have plenty of industrial stools that are fit for purpose. Our tall replica Tolix stool with its timber seat makes a great choice and has a timeless design. Other industrial stools you might like include the tall hairpin stool in red, the Detroit stool which features an adjustable seat and comes in in 2 heights, the Cargo stool in light or dark timber and the Phil stool which features a timber seat and powdered steel frame.

Contemporary – If you prefer something more modern then take a look at our Loft Stool in black. While technically this isn’t a timber bar stool, it’s designed to look that way and has tubular steel legs with a ‘timber’ finish and a black polypropylene shell seat with a small backrest. Funky in its appearance, it can be used indoors and outside making it more versatile than some of our other stools.
