We’re currently offering a discount on our range of steel cabaret chairs so as well as attracting more customers through your doors with stylish chairs, you could also save yourself some money too – a win-win situation.

What are cabaret chairs?

Cabaret chairs as they’re often known actually refer to the No.18 chair which was designed and manufactured by Michael Thonet in 1859. One of the most successful of the Bentwood chairs, it came about due to Thonet’s desire to create a chair for the masses. A chair that could be easiy mass produced, was quick and easy to construct, and affordable for everyone. Produced in Austria and also known as the ‘Vienna chair’ its popularity waned after the 1st and 2nd world wars when Austria was struggling to cope with production and people were looking for new exciting designs.

However, all that changed when Lisa Minnelli made the No.18 chair famous during a raunchy dance routine in the 1972 film ‘Cabaret’. Suddenly everyone wanted a piece of the action with a retro design that was timeless for the home and for business.

Fast forward and our No. 18 cabaret chairs are no longer made from bent wood like the original but instead are made from steel that’s powder coated in a range of stunning colours including sky blue, red, yellow, forest green, black and white.

Create a vision

Made to the same design as the iconic Thonet chair they’re elegant with their sinuous curves and gently splayed legs. Besides looking attractive they’re lightweight, strong, and durable. With so many colours to choose from it’s easy to totally your cafe’s interior. If you’re seeking a classic design then why not pair black cabaret chairs with gleaming white tables for a look that’s clean and fresh? If you prefer something a little more contemporary then you could swap out the white tables for stainless steel tables. Alternatively, for a warm, homely feel how about using our forest green chairs placed around timber tables and perhaps you could create a statement wall with some bold wallpaper featuring green foliage and birds. We also like the thought of a beachside cafe using white tables with sky blue chairs to create a nautical feel. As you can see the No. 18 steel cabaret chair lends itself to a wide range of decors and themes.
