Discovering Cafe Furniture/Decor Trends for 2018

Vintage and retro

Vintage and retro style furniture was popular last year and this seems set to continue this year. Expect to see rustic wooden tables with meal bases accompanied by leather effect seating. Mix and match chairs in order to create a look that is unique to your cafe. You can do this by style or colour or even a mixture of both. Why not try combining traditional wooden chairs with modern metal chairs for a look that is full of character?

Finishes

Commercial interiors will be using warmer, darker wood colours with dark oak furniture and natural wood tones contrasted by trendy white and grey painted Scandinavian styles. There will also be a stripped back look of natural wood to complement the character and elegance of vintage styles. Combining different shades of wood is a great way to character and depth to your cafe and makes it stand out from the crowd.

Shapes

Furniture shapes are moving away from the angular lines of 2017 and will appear softer with rounded edges. Turned legs on wooden chairs and tables, and curved lines on sofas add interest and contrast really well with industrial décor and lighting that is continuing to dominate interior design this year.

Fabrics

Although you’ll still find plenty of neutral shades around, why not be adventurous and splash out with some colour. Vibrant jewel shades in velvet and chenille fabrics are trending. If you’re looking to be really bold then why not opt for bright turquoise or fuschia pink on a wooden frame to add some serious razzle dazzle. Another option is to choose more modest colours but go for a statement pattern to elevate what is otherwise an ordinary looking wooden chair.

Quality

The final tip is to remember that buying furniture for commercial use is not the same as for residential.
