Top Tips On Choosing Cafe Tables

tolix-table-with-walnut-topIt’s that time of the year when Brisbane is brimming over with tourists exhausted from their sightseeing and wanting to take the weight off their feet, sit and relax with a glass of something long and cool, as they plan where to go and what to do next. If you’re looking to attract more customers to your cafe then you might want to consider setting up a new outdoor seating area or revamping your cafe tables to make your dining space look more appealing.

We’ve put together some top tips when choosing cafe tables, so take a read:

It has to be commercial

Sure there are some great looking tables around but unless they are marked up as commercial grade you really are wasting your money if you purchase them for your cafe. You might wonder what the difference is. Well, it’s all in the design which is specifically for furniture which is to be used regularly on a daily basis and allows it to stand up to the hard wearing, high volume demands of a bustling cafe. In addition commercial cafe tables are more versatile since you can buy the bases and tops as separate items or as a package. In addition, with such a wide range of table tops available to choose from, you can create anything from a traditional to a funky look and anything in between.

Indoor or outdoor?

The type of table top and base you choose will depend ultimately on where you intend to use it – i.e. indoors or outdoors. The most cost effective laminate tops are not really suitable for outdoor use and neither is timber, unless it’s a hard wood like teak. If you want to be able to use your furniture both indoors and out, then we recommend choosing a material which is suitable for both, such as our Werzalit and Isotop table tops.

Table size

Choosing the correct size of table not only has an impact on the look of your seating area but also affects the comfort of your customers. For example, our 600mm table tops are purely suited to solo diners or couples who are having little more than a coffee and slice of cake to eat. Great for slotting into corners and recesses they also provide a more intimate dining area. Our 700mm and 800mm tables on the other hand, offer far more space for two or more customers eating a meal on a larger plate with perhaps a side dish, and one or more beverages. They can also be pushed together to create communal dining options for large parties.

Table spacing

Naturally you want to maximise your floor space in order to be able to seat as many customers as possible but we would advice leaving a space of around 1 metre between each table so that customers can pull out their chairs without bumping into other customers and waiters/waitresses can move with ease between tables when serving food and drinks. You also need to ensure there is plenty of room to access the wash rooms with ease.
