How To Increase Your Cafe Seating Capacity This Christmas

With the weather hotting up, Christmas is a busy time for cafe goers, but the question is, how do you make sure that you make the most of this busy time? The answer by maximising your seating capacity.

If you imagine that each seat in your cafe, restaurant, or bistro is worth an extra $100 per day then it’s understandable that you’d really want to maximise your capacity. After all if you had just ten seats and you were open for 10 hours a day, six days a week, that’s $6000. Provided that your overall food drink and service is of good quality then in theory, twenty seats could bring in double this amount, and so on and so forth. So with this in mind just how do you go about increasing your capacity.

Consider changing the layout

Just because your layout has remained unchanged for the past decade doesn’t mean it works the best. Instead take a closer look at customer flow, any wasted space, and consider if necessary changing your seating altogether. For instance, try bench seating or bar counters as they tend to seat more people in a limited space. You might also want to think about smaller tables placed in alcoves and awkward spaces, or even booth seating. Remember done properly and it can really make a difference.

Choose your furniture carefully

Even though a sofa or larger tub chairs create a great relaxing ambience, they can take up much of your valuable floor space. Therefore if you’re not opening in the evening and are serving wine and beer, then you might want to opt for traditional tables and chairs. Remember more seating gives you the potential for higher earnings. Why not have some handy stackable chairs or stools at the ready such as Tolix bar stools that you can wheel out if necessary.

Don’t forget your outdoors

Let’s face it people attract people. If you don’t believe me then the next time you walk past two adjacent cafe’s and you see one that’s busy and one less so, you’re going to be more drawn to the busy cafe simply because it appears more appealing. Therefore one way to grab the attention of passers by is to make the most of your outside space too. You might want to invest in an awning or some parasols to protect visitors from the sun, but whatever you do, don’t ignore it. Remember any available space can potentially be a gold mine, especially around Christmas time.
